kapua tahi This album manages to strip the songs of their funky warmth and replace that with a sort of clinical chilliness - but it works! Outstanding tracks are: pleasure principle; if and In control, I was absolutely transported by this album.

We're delighted to announce that we are releasing an amazing Janet Jackson covers album! Filled with loads of Tin Angel favourites and even a couple of our very own artists. The project has been 7 years in the making and is the brainchild of our good friend Jan Lankisch. After hearing Janet's music for the first time in 1989 he instantly became a fan. 'It blew my mind' he says 'you could call it a first-love experience.' The idea came to realisation in 2008 after meeting the band Dirty Projectors. They spoke about The Jacksons and Jan mentioned how he'd always preferred Janet's records to Michael's, and that it would be fun to pay tribute to her. Here we have it, 17 tracks recorded over 7 years - a love letter to Janet. The album will be released digitally on October 2nd (the same day as Janet's new album! (her first since 2008 coincidentally)) and physically in December.

My favorite artists are ones who aren't afraid to try something completely different. I hear Charles Stepney, David Axelrod's Earth Rot, Steve Reich, Penguin Cafe Orchestra and others in this, but it's undeniably Sault in the end. As usual, probably my favorite album of the year. mackro

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
